When you give, does your church make sure you are recognized?
Matthew 6:1-4 ”Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. “Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
Does the church you give to put you in a higher degree of standing with them?
Have you ever been put in an elite group because you gave a certain amount of money?
Is the church you support, sure to let the other members know how generous you are?
It could be the church you support, does not believe in the God that rewards you openly when you give in secret?
As we give to support churches, a good way to tell if the church is worthy, is to see how they handle your support. If the church uses God’s word as their guide, your reward will come from God. They will be sure your giving is confidential, and they will be sure to make the most out your support.
Do you require letters of thanks to keep up your support?
Is the church sure to give you letters of thanks, so that you keep the support coming?
When you give do you have a higher standing in the community because of it, and did that higher standing come from God? Is the reward you received from God, or the church that wants to be sure you do not stop giving?
The only way to be sure is to not let them know who is doing the giving.
This is God’s way of dealing with it.
How does your church handle giving, and receiving?
When you give to support your church does the person next to you, get to see how much you are, or are not giving?
If they ever allow you to believe you can be forgiven from a sin with money? If they ever allow you to think you can be closer to God by how much you give?
You are supporting the wrong church, and you are doing it for the wrong reason. But you can count on a reward from men if that is what you are looking for.
