Why do we allow temptation to tempt us?

James 1:12-16 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let know one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

We allow ourselves to be tempted when we do not believe God will provide our desires.

When we trust in God by His Son Jesus and believe by faith all our needs and desires He will meet if we are patience. We can withstand all temptation and obtain our crown of life.

Trust in God and His Son then temptation will never give birth to sin. That is 100% guaranteed.

You know, to me, this is where free will is a definite advantage (One of many!)

Have you ever gone on a weight loss diet and suddenly you want a bowl of ice cream more than you ever wanted one in your life? That’s because you told yourself you can’t have it! Tell yourself you can have it, but choose not to and the control is back to you.

God said not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The devil said It’s gooood! Today I think temptation is easier to resist because we don’t have to choose; we are free to choose. And the choice is so simple once you understand it.

“Hope this makes a little sense – I was having a hard time time putting into words what I was thinking.
