Why did the world persecute and crucify Jesus?
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
Acts 8:17-20 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!”
When Jesus walked this earth He gave us a truth that was to set us free. The wisdom He taught was going to effect the way business was done. He was teaching us a way that would take all God’s Word and make it available to all mankind for the asking. He was teaching that through Him we could be forgiven from are sins. He taught us how to have life and have it abundantly. And with His stripes we could be healed. The world knew that once this truth reached the people, the world’s way of doing would be short lived.
After all the world had set up their church in a building, a place where you had to be, to hear about, or to speak to God.
The world had established a price you had to pay to be forgiven of your sin, what ever that offering may be.
God had wanted a man to preach and teach His wisdom to mankind, but money and the love of it, took the place of God’s Word and His miracles. Then the preachers and teachers had to add their own doctrines to God’s word, so that they could justify what they were doing.
So when Jesus showed up, the world was none to happy, because they had been exposed, by the Light, and the cash cow they had created was about to be liquidated.
Jesus paid the ransom for all that were cut off from God from their sin. So no longer was the knowledge of good and evil, going to keep you away.
Jesus turned the tables over in the temple and let them know, they had made His Father’s house which was to be a house of prayer, into a den of thieves.
Jesus gave each man the way to reach God, without another man deciding for him whether they were worthy or not.
Jesus has made a way for your body to be the church, so you can talk to, praise, worship, and Give thanks, to God where ever and when ever you decide.
Jesus offered healing to all those that had faith in Him, and He let them know it was their faith in HIm, that made them whole.
Jesus revealed their doctrines, that they had to add to God’s word to justify their works and teachings.
Jesus was a threat to their evil empire and the world had to crucify Him and make it known that He, had just said, He was the Son, but he really had no power, after all, if He did, He would have come down from the cross.
The world would love for you to see Jesus on the cross forever. If you never found out that He was sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting for you to make His enemies His footstool, through faith in His name, the world would not mind that at all. It keeps them between you and God, instead of Jesus between you and God.
Jesus paid the ransom for all to come to God, for those that will accept Him, and then let them have it for free. And no matter what good He did, the world wants Him dead. Because what He now offers for free, the world still wants you to pay for.
