    What’s the difference?

Genesis 4:3-7 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well , sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Luke 18:9-14 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men–extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ‘I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ “And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The Bible lets us know that there is a difference in our hearts. We should always test what we do by asking ourselves why are we doing this or that. If the reason we do something has the wrong motive we need to reconsider. The scriptures do not let us know whether Cain’s offering was better or worse than Abel’s, It just tells us that God did not respect Cain’s offering. It could have been the best of the best, but if Cain was giving with the wrong heart, if he was intending to make Abel look bad, Cain had the wrong intentions. If Cain was giving with reluctance, that could have been why God did not respect it. Whatever the reason God did not respect, you can be sure that it had to do with the heart of the giver.

When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, then they learned how good or how bad they were. So when you go to do something you will know deep in your heart if it is good or if it is bad. When you get condemned for something you did Thank God for the discipline. If you are embarrassed in a pride full moment, be sure you learn the lesson from it, and thank God for it.

In all you do, do it with God first in your mind. Give Him all the Glory in Jesus name, if you have a difference in your heart, God will be the first to know, and it is up to you to change, God will not.
