Temptations, Trials, and Test, what is the difference?

James 2:12-18 “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 Peter4:12-14 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

Temptations, Trials, and Test, when we as believers study and rightly divide God’s word, we will see the difference in each of these.

It is so important to know that a temptation is not from God. When we are being tempted it is so good to know we do not have to stand for it. When things come up in life that we know are not from God, we as believers can and must know we can resist it. If it was not possible for us to do this, God would not tell us to do it. He is with us in all temptation and will give us a way to escape. When we desire to flee from it. If we want to stay with temptation He will allow that also. We must be the one in the temptation to resist. God will not do anything that we will not allow. As temptation raises its head, If we resist it, it will flee from us. Key words are WE MUST! It is our desires that bring on temptation, it must be our desires to make it go.

Temptation and sickness are not related in any way, so never think God is trying to direct you with temptation. The scriptures plainly state He cannot be tempted, and He never tempts. God is not good and bad both, but sometimes when temptation rises it seems that God is giving us just what we are looking for, even though someone else will suffer for it. Even if we didn’t pray for the answer, we think this is answer to our prayer. But it is nothing but temptation when it causes us to lie, cheat, steel, rob, or hurt others to get what we desire.

Temptation, recognize it for what it is.

When we as believers go through trials it is important to know what a trial is. A trial is never sickness and disease, I’ll say it again never is sickness and disease a trial. I have heard so many people say when they or someone they know is sick, that they are going through a trial.

A trial is just what it says it is. You are being put under the magnifying glass and they, the world are trying to find something wrong with your trust in God’s word. The world is putting judgment on you, to see if the thing you are standing for is real, or a lie. And when the world is putting you on trial God says count it all joy. If you are being persecuted for Jesus’s sake you are going through suffering like Him. This is the only suffering we as believers are suppose to endure. I ‘ll say this once again, this is the only suffering we as believers are supposed to go through.

Trials, are just that trials, believers going through the worlds judgment.

If you are sick or have some type of disease, you are NOT being tested. Test, is just what the word says. It is a test to see what you know or what you will do when presented with a question in this life. As a believer in Jesus Christ, when presented with certain questions, they need to answer in line with God’s word. When we use Gods word to answer any question we cannot go wrong. Some examples of a test are, your brother calls and needs help you can offer what do you do? Your neighbor calls and needs something you can offer what do you do? When someone has a need and you can help what do you do? You are late for work and a friend offers to punch your card what do you do? You arrive to work 2 hours before anyone shows up, do you go right to work like you are working for God, or do you take advantage of the fact that no one is there to judge you and drag your feet, after all the company owes it to you, don’t they? These are some questions. How you answer them will depend on how well you score.

Not only are we to be tested but we are suppose to test spirits that speak to our inner man. Do they say what God says they will say. Are the spirits saying what the word of God says. Is the Spirit filled person that is directing you saying what God’s word says. I did not say to judge them I said to test them. Do they Pass according to Gods answer sheet. If not and you know the answer then the test becomes your test again. Now what will you do? Will you give them the answers?

Thank God for Jesus’s shed blood because if not for this most of us would fail the test of life.

    Temptation, Trials, and Test.

Let us keep these words in line. And never confuse them with sickness and disease. When Jesus walked the earth, He healed all that believed in Him, and never did He tell anyone you are being tempted, tried, and tested, there is nothing I can do for you.
