Is love the greatest of gifts?
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
The way for us as believers to show God love is to do His commandments. And the number one rule to follow, “love your neighbor as yourself.” When we put our will in line with God’s will it shows Him we love Him. When we put our will in line with others that we love, it shows we love them. This is an outward sign. We do not have to sin to show others we will line our will up with theirs. But we might have to be longsuffering for the ones we love. At least until they come to a full understanding of God’s love. When we endure with love, we show the people we love that we will do whatever it takes (without sinning) until they come into a complete understanding of God’s will.
Love never fails, that’s why it is the greatest of gifts. Let us have a good look at what we do for others. Do we do it with love? Or do we do it for something? What we think is love may not be love at all, but it may be our way of trying to boast about ourselves, and letting other people know just how good we are. Love will always be placing your will in line with the person that you love for no reason other than the fact that you love them.
Is the will you’re doing your’s, God’s, or someone else’s ? Think about it.
