Is Christianity just a crutch for weak people?
Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 19:23-26 Then Jesus said to His disciples, ”Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
There are a lot of people who believe that Christianity is a crutch for weak people. You as christians need to know that those people have not, as of yet, had anything that they believe they need Christ for. When you live life as the world says is right, it is easy to see why they think this way. When you are not threatening to satan in any way, he will let you go on your merry way, because satan knows you do not know Christ and he has you convinced you do not need Him. Most people with this belief are wealthy and trust in riches, some believe they are a lot smarter than the average, under educated person. They feel they have this life figured out.
I have had a psychiatrist tell me that Jesus was a crutch for weak people , and as I think back it was in his best interest to tell me this because, if he had told me that God did not give the spirit of fear, but of power, and love and, a sound mind and I believed. It would be against his financial well being.
Jesus Christ is a Healer and a Counselor, He will be a crutch for you while you are gaining understanding of God’s word. When you gain this knowledge, and put it under your stand, you can look to the one that told you, “He is a crutch,” and tell them, they need to meet Jesus, and know Him themselves, before it is too late.
There are doctors that trust in God and these should be the ones you see, you can engage your doctor in conversation and his words will tell you what you need to know. A doctor’s goal should be for you to get well, not to make you think you need him indefinitely. Some times you may be the crutch or (support) for the one that has the degree, if not for your illness they would be looking for work. We can only hope that one day, all doctors will need to be plumbers.
When you accept Jesus and start a life that is built on faith in Him, you will realize it cannot get any better. This is exactly what the great Doctor ordered. When you pray and stand in faith for the answers and your prayers start to come to life, it will give you joy. When you look back at last year, and the year before, and your testimony gets bigger and better, it lets you see that Jesus is just what you needed all along.
On the other hand, if you are a rich young ruler and you feel that everything you have done has made you righteous, and you come to Jesus and ask Him how to be saved, and you have done all the good on the list, except all you have gained is not by trusting in God and His Son. Jesus tells you to sell it all, and allow Him to be Lord of your life. You now need to come to grips with yourself.
Do you now need a crutch?
If you have made yourself righteous, you need to come to an understanding of God’s word and accept Jesus. When you do, your eyes will be open and you will see the truth. Jesus is the only way. It does not matter if you are the rich, poor or middle class, it does not matter if you are sick, or walk in complete health, it does not matter how good you have been. You need Jesus no matter what you have done. He is the answer to everything you need. Never let people tell you anything that will turn you from your belief in Jesus Christ.
Trust in Jesus Christ and confess Him as your Savior, and you will get to heaven, and through working your faith in Him and His promises you will also have an abundant life on earth, as God meant for it to always be . There is no other way.
Jesus is for all people rich, poor, weak, strong, good, and bad. He is a Key to Life.
