Does it keep coming back or do you keep going back?
2 Peter 2:20-22 For if , after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and “a sow, having washed, to wallowing in the mire.”
When you find Jesus Christ, and come to the true understanding of God’s word, you will need to hang on by faith with all that you have. There are a lot of churches today that try and do whatever they can to lure people in to get them saved. The people get there and get saved and think that is all there is to the Christian life, because that is all that happens in the church. The people go to the church because the music is loud and they get very emotionally driven and they know that God is there because they feel so good. Some people go to church because the preacher cries and he is just so serious about what he is saying, and instead of a good feeling they get a sorrowful feeling. Some go to church because they hear people say that you must go to church or you are going to hell, and the pastor there assures you, with all the fear message he can come up with to keep you around, because you are moved by fear.
After you find that you have filled yourself with good feelings you go back to your old way of life. After you become tired and worn out from being sad, and sorrowful you go back to your old way of life. After your fear subsides and you feel like you are on solid ground once again you return to your old way of life. And now you are worse off than when you started. because you get back to where you were and now you do not know where to go. You feel like you tried religion and that did not help so you feel you have no place to turn.
When you go to church, you should go to find out about God. Take your Bible and study to show yourself approved. If you go for a feeling, good, sad, guilt, or because of fear, you are going for the wrong reason. You should go to church to hear the truth about God. If you have been manipulated in any way to go to church, you are there for the wrong reason. God wants people to come to Him because they want to. God wants everyone to come to Him through His Son. If your desire is not to find out about that, You are going to church for the wrong reasons. Church should be a place where you want to be, not a place you feel forced to be for any reason.
When you find the right church, you will know because the truth will set you free, and you will not turn back to your old way of life.
Find the right church, hear the truth, and see the signs following what you believe, and never turn back. Stand in faith and never let the devil lie to you and talk you out of God’s promises.
Keep coming back to your new way of life, and quit going back to your old.
