Are you as trusting, and faithful as a small child?
Mark 10:13 -16 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, ”Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, Laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
God’s word tell us, if we do not receive the kingdom as a small child, we will not enter it. As we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are doing the will of our Father in heaven. We believe what our Father tells us and we accept it as the truth. We do not doubt, and we act as if what He said is so. A small child will do whatever you tell them they can. You can place them on something and tell them to jump and you will catch them, and they will jump right into your arms. They are that faithful.
When we accept Jesus, we need to do it with the faith as a small child. And have no doubt that we have all that He tells us we have. When we become this trusting in God’s word. We become more than conquerors on this earth. God would never tell us to do something we could not do.
(see Matthew 7:24-27)
If we look at children’s stories in the world. We will see an underlying message that we cannot deny. The story of the three pigs; is about three pigs, each one built his house, one was of straw, one of sticks, and one of bricks. Each pig built differently. We as Christians need to know that our body is the church of God. What we use as a foundation to build this life on needs to be Jesus. The three pigs built their houses differently, and when the wolf came, he blew down the houses not made with solid material. If we as believers build our house on a rock (Jesus Christ) and all He stands for, we will withstand all storms. No matter how severe. When the two pigs, that built their houses out of material that was not solid, lost their house to the wind of the big bad wolf. Even the pigs knew to run to the one pig that had built his house (Life) on solid ground. What a child-like message; and as we become like a small child, we will see it.(see Luke 8:11-15)
Another child like story is; Jack and the bean stalk. Jack and His mother were starving. His mother sent him, with their only cow to sell for money for food. He met a man along the way that swapped him some magic beans for the cow. Jack was willing to give up the only thing he had of value for some beans. If we as Christians can see the message in this story. We will see, Jesus is God’s seed to us. The scripture tell us God’s word is the seed. When we take it and believe in Jesus and the things He tells us in the word (seed). Are we willing to give up the only thing we know as value, trusting in Jesus (God’s Seed). The story of Jack and the beans stalk has, a small child-like message. Jack took those beans (seeds) that he believed to have a special power and planted them. Jack had a bean stalk grow to the heavens where there was all of the riches he could imagine. Thank God, His word is true and not a fairy tale. If we become like minded as a small child. We can trust and believe by faith and have all that God wants us to have. If we will only dare to trust God without doubting. And use the Seed He has given us.(see James 1: 5, 4:7) (1 John 4:17-19)
When we see the kingdom as a small child, we will be able to see in the story of, The Wizard of Oz, that all that Dorothy and the Scare Crow, and the Tin Man, and the LIon, were looking for, they had all along. But not until they were told to bring the witch’s broom, and they did bring it to the wizard, did they realize they already had what they where searching for. We, being small, child-minded Christians, need to realize the power in Jesus Name and what it means to us as believers. When we accept it and do not doubt it. We will resist the devil and he will flee from us. It will take Faith with works. It will take Love. It will take Courage. It will take a Brain, understanding God’s word is wisdom. All the things that Dorothy and her friends had all along but did not realize until they resisted the evil and won. It was a power deep with in them that the evil was tricking them in believing they had to get from a mighty wizard. As they overcame their fears they got bolder and bolder. We as Christians have this power when we accept Jesus. But we will have to use our faith and ask in prayer and believe, and not doubt. Never let the evil in this world lie to you about what God has given you when you accept His Son Jesus Christ. Resist and you will see it works every time. It is not a fairy tale.February 3, 2004 at 8:18 pm #125JimmyParticipantAs I read this lesson, I was really deeply moved by it. So simple are the lessons provided by these fairy tales, but we still manage to overlook them somehow.
Observations that I had on the stories that I think add to their overall zing:
The Three Little Pigs:
In addition to seeing that the solidarity of Christ is the only true way to go, we also have to examine the Big, Bad Wolf. He blew down the homes of the two, not as aptly equipped pigs with the breath from his lungs. Something so simple overtook the piggies and sent them running. When he got to the Brick house, however, he couldn’t blow it down. Then, when he went down the chimney, he got the business end of a roaring fire. The Wolf is Satan. When we’re built with weak material, we do fear him. When we’re on the rock of Christ, however, we have nothing to worry about; we see that Satan is just a bunch of hot air. And recall; when Satan tempts us and tries us, we need to recall the ultimate result; Satan will someday be engulfed in the lake of fire. When the Devil is reminding you of your past, remind him of his future.
Jack and the Beanstalk:
With our old pal Jack, we have to think about not only Jack’s willingness to trust the beans, but we have to think about the trade-off. A decent-sized cow is a hefty thing to trade, and what’s even stranger is that it was traded for a fistful of beans. Often times in life, we have plenty, but we haven’t the love of God. In the long run, this means we have nothing. Sometimes, that which we have in life seems meager, but what we have in our hearts and in our souls is tremendous. Jack found his treasure up in the sky, whereas he had nothing on earth. One day, we as Christians will have star-capped crowns and glorious golden mansions. The possessions of earth are just that. They stay here when we leave. The glory of Heaven will be with us eternally.
The Wizard of Oz:
Dorothy was in a tight spot. She had to make it to Oz to see the wizard, and her only guides were a brainless scarecrow, a heartless old tin woodsman, and a cowardly lion. True, each of the travelers had their gift with them the whole time. But had it not been for Dorothy, consider where they would all be. The Scarecrow would still be up on his pole, soaking in sun and mold. The Tin Man would still be rusting in the forrest. The Lion would be scampering off with each little birdy chirp. The strength these characters unlocked would never have been found if not for the love of a simple little girl from Kansas (and, of course, her happy little dog). You see, God set the pieces in motion long before we were born; the people we have in our lives were here to teach us certain things. God knows how lives link together like the threads of a loom and each is just a crucial to the other as the other is to it. The people around you are trying to teach you lessons and give you gifts every single day; be receptive.

Jesus told us that God lives in the hearts of the innocent youth.
From the mouths of babes, they say.Believe…Simply Believe
