Does the Lord give and take away?
Job 1:6-10 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. And the Lord said to Satan, “from where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man one who fears God and shuns evil?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
Job 1:12 And the Lord said to to Satan, “Behold all that he has, is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
Job 1:21 And he said; “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Job 2:6-7 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life,” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
Job 3:25 For the thing I have greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, and vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
When you go to the book of Job, and study to rightly divide God’s word. You may find something that goes against tradition. When this happens the traditional opposition will be great. So we will try to answer this question with a question, and you can think on this and come to your own understanding.
By the scriptures it is plain to see that Job had a hedge of protection, and God had blessed all Job put his hand toward. Then we see in (1 Peter 5:8 ) that Satan when he walks the earth, seeks whom he may devour. The word allows us to see that Satan was walking the earth to and fro. Lets make a note that Satan was walking the earth to and fro. God asked Satan, “what is up? why are you here?” Satan says, “I am just seeking whom I may devour.” God says, “how about Job?” And Satan’s response is, “yea but he has a hedge of protection around him.” And God says. “look again. All he has is in your power.”
What brought that hedge down?
Is it because Satan asked?
Was God showing how much His servant loved Him no matter what?
We should love God know matter what. God is all there is. There is nothing without Him.
Could it be Job’s fear, that is documented in Job 3:25 that allowed the hedge to come down?
Job was without sin, in Gods eyes. But the scriptures show Job feared and dreaded all that happened, before it happened. The scriptures also show that as things happened that Job’s quote was “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away,” and Yet he still blessed the Lord, but we can plainly see that the devil was given all power to do what he wanted to Job. The scriptures say that Satan left God and struck Job with boils from head to toe. It was not God that did it. Make a Note of this.
Is it possible that Job did not know that it was the devil taking from him?
The traditional church, at funerals will use Job’s statement “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.” My question to you is, “has this word been rightly divided?” The scriptures say Satan was given all the power concerning taking away. Job’s statement was truly stated but not a true statement. The scriptures show this.
There is a reason that this book of Job is in the Bible. It is not like any of the others books.
Could it be to show us that The Lord gives and Satan is the one taking away?
Job loved God no matter what was happening. But he wished he had never been born when things got tough.
Is this book of Job to let us see, that no matter how right you are in God’s sight, fear will bring down the hedge of protection. This book of Job is to teach us something, let us look at it without the traditional glasses on. We may get a new message from it.
The book of Job lets us know that Job regained all that he lost 2 fold. God blessed him once again, with family and friends, and possessions. This book has a message we need to rightly divide.
We need to know that satan is walking this earth, do not give him an inch of ground. And you do this by not being afraid.
