Are you successful? Compared to who?
Genesis 4:3-7 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and His offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door, And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
One of the most disguised evils in the world, is when we measure our success on how our brothers are doing. In this world brothers and sisters are using each other to determine how well they are doing. And as long as we are doing the same as them, then we get a false feeling of comfort. If we are not doing as well as them, we get a false feeling of jealousy. And if we are doing better than them, then we get a false feeling of pride.
When we judge our success on how well our brothers are doing, in stead of judging our success on what God says. Then the knowledge of good and evil sets the standard for our life, and we do not let our choice for Life guide us. When we choose life and live our lives as God as our guide, God respects that.
When we choose to know how good or bad we are compared to someone else’s standard, we let that lead us through life in stead of God.
When you give, does it show your success of God’s leading?
Or did your brother set your standard, for living?
Are you successful? Compared to who? Will God respect your answer to these questions?
Your countenance may give you away.
