What are you looking back for?
Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, ”No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Philippians 3:12-16 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Jesus Christ. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, You are washed of your sins and you become white as snow to God. You become a child of God. You have put your will in line with God’s will and you are showing Him perfect love because you are doing His will. You now are walking with God. You are seen as righteous because of Jesus shed blood, and you have confessed what you believe in your heart. You are now forgiven from everything you ever did. You are now blessed beyond your wildest dreams. You become partakers of the inheritance with Jesus Christ.
What are you looking back for? Is there something that you do not believe you have been forgiven of? Is there a sin you still want to hang on to? Is there something you do not want to give up because of the pleasure it gave? Is there something you want to go back and fix?
There are somethings you cannot change, and when you dwell on them, they stop your forward move in life. When you use a plow, like the one that is talked about in the scriptures. It turns over the ground, making it ready for planting. It is not a perfect tool and depending on the softness or hardness of the ground, or if rocks are in the way, or if the ground is to dry, or to wet, these things will effect how well the plow will work. You want the plow to turn the ground perfectly. You want the ground to be perfect when your done. But because of the ground not being perfect it will not turn perfect, and you cannot look back at the ground, that does not turn correctly. When you plow you must put all your attention on what is ahead
If you look back you will mess up more ground that is ahead of you, than what you left behind.Believe, confess what you believe, and trust in God’s word by faith, and do not look back at things you cannot change.
