ParticipantI kept humming:
“This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
The next verse goes something like:
“Hide it under a bushel basket
I’m gonna let it shine…..
And the chorus is:LET IT SHINE! LET IT SHINE! LET IT SHINE!
Good parable. Thanks

ParticipantI’m sorry. I guess that wasn’t very nice (or funny). I’m trying to rely on the Word and not always on you. And if you only knew how long I searched. But I do Thank you with LOVE!

ParticipantRight you are! I never read any of it. Like I told Jimmy, he also wrote a book called The Screwtape Letters which is a satirical story of letters back to Heaven from an archangel banished to Earth.

ParticipantAt least until about age 7!
God Bless You!

ParticipantI like the thought of the devil’s yard sale…All those tools (fear, greed, unbelief, etc) that he found so invaluable and that we once found so worrisome to us (and, yes, sometimes important too) just laying on a table with a sign marked $1 each and still nobody’s buying!
And if we won’t buy trouble and fear for $! each, why on Earth do we let the devil try to ‘give’ them to us at the price of our soul. Rebuke him with God’s word !
It paints quite the picture.

ParticipantThank you! I got so much more than I asked for….just like when I talk to GOD.

ParticipantThanks for this new way to look at the Wise Men scripture. Actually I mean thanks for reminding me because I was confused by their gifts to the baby Jesus when I was a child. First of all I couldn’t pronounce the words and I never really knew what they were until I was much older at which point I didn’t question it. But you’re so right! They brought as much trouble as they brought wordly wealth. I remeber wondering at one time in my life if their birthday gifts financed Joseph, Mary and Jesus’ flight to and exile in Egypt. What else would a carpenter in a small village do with such unuseful riches?

ParticipantI’m not sure how I missed reading this one before, so I apologize for this late response. But I had to tell you that this collection of Scriptures on this subject reads like a book of Proverbs
Gail
ParticipantThank you. I couldn’t have asked for a clearer or more moving response. The Holy Spirit wrote this one – right?

ParticipantThe part of this message that refers to tracks reminds me of our dear, sweet Meghan. She referred to her footsteps on this earth as “pawprints”. And she left some beautiful pawprints for which I thank God. Happy Birthday, Meggie from Gramm

ParticipantI believe in giving the devil his due and I DON’T OWE HIM A THING. All I would add here is that the devil never “gives” anything – his “gifts” all have an extremely high price tag in the end.

ParticipantYou wrote, or quoted, that we should be doing the works Jesus did and (even) more works because He has given us this power to do them. Do you mind expanding on this and maybe giving some examples. I get confused by the “good works” some churches do as opposed to what God wants from us. Thanks for the insights. Love, Gail
