The day was hot and instead of cutting grass we decided to take a canoe trip. It was our first day on the river with my wife and she had a bit of apprehension about the whole thing. We had never been on that stretch of river in a canoe, so did not know what it was to offer as far as adventure. We dropped off my son’s truck at the take out point and proceded to the launch site. On the way to the launch site we came upon a farmer that lost his entire load of round bales of hay. And the road was blocked. We waited for them to clear the road and we were on our way. We launched and headed down river. My intentions are to be sure my wife is safe and secure, and do my best to make this trip one to remember. Little did I know! As we ventured down river about half way, my son said I just remembered I left the keys to my truck in the glove compartment of your truck, not good. You could say, "We where down the river without keys" We continued down river and I prayed in the spirit and knew things would work out fine. I was sure to explain every move I made to my wife so she would know that I knew how to read the river and things would be fine. And my wife not being an avid swimmer was beginning to take a little comfort in my abilities, after all we had navigated five rapids and things where fine. So far! We approached a rapid and we could see no way to procede. I took our canoe to the side, as we studied the best way for us to continue. The entire width of the river had a ledge that dropped off about 2 to 3 feet and there was only one passage about 20 ft wide and the river was, to say the least, a bit turbulent. I told my wife I think I see where we can make it down river. As I backed the canoe away from the river bank the river took us right into the rapid backwards and all I could do was say, Hold on! The first thing we did was turn side ways and over she went, my wife and the canoe, and she stood up, the water was about 2 feet deep. It looked and sounded bad, but if you would just stand it was harmless. I righted the canoe and encouraged her to get back in, the worst was over? We both got back in the canoe and went about another 20 feet and this time we lost every thing in the canoe and it sank. As this was happening I was just laughing, because I know I was and she was learning a life lesson. You see sometimes the things we fear in life and avoid, or do our best to tiptoe around to keep from experiencing, because of fear, are not as fear-some as we think, and as we get into situations in life, the ones we get pulled into and we do all we can to stop it but it happens anyway, if we will just stand in our faith, we will see that it sounds and looks a lot worse than it is. We righted the canoe the second time and proceded down river. We still need to arrive to our take out ramp and then find away to get back to the launch site, and get the keys to my son’s truck.
We arrived in one piece to the ramp and their he stood the answer to a prayer just prayed hours before. His name was Jack and He was a man led by God and in a way that He might not have even known himself, or maybe he did? It was then the miracle unfolded, or came to completion, I am not sure which. I ask my son outloud, "Are you ready for the long walk back to get the keys we need? It was at this statement that Jack spoke up, "Do not say another word, I have done the same thing myself. You left your keys at the launch site didn’t you?" And as I reluctantly said, "Yes" He said, "No problem I will take you to get them." Now this man that we had never seen before provided our need it was supernatural. This man knew what we had done, what we needed and we spoke not a word to him that would let him know. My wife said we should get this man’s card because, before he left to retreive our keys he told us he was a photographer, he never heard her say it he had already left. Now things are unwrapping so supernatural how could it get any better. My son and Jack returned and Jack walked back down the boat ramp, with a business card in his hand and said, for us to keep in touch. I was really feeling blessed and offered Jack some money for gas, or maybe it was a sacrifice for our ignorance. Whatever it was, Jack response was,"I could not take it and I can only ask that you do the same for someone else, which I assured him I would.
As this man paddled away, I am amazed at how Christ like he was. He was right where we needed him to be. He coud relate to our situation, with out me begging for help, and he refused to take money, but asked that we only do the same for someone else.
Lesson learned: Your true keys to success is prayer.
When something or someone is blocking your path it is so you will be at the right place at the right time.
When you have been drawn into a situation that seems out of control, just stand.
When you pray and God answers your prayer it will be above and beyond all you could imagine, or that you ask for.
When we try to be as Christ like as we can, we will know what is needed, we will supply that need and desire, and it will be for free, it will be something that you can not buy. And what will be required is that we do the same for some one else with a need.
Thank you Jack, you truly are led>
