So tell me…Whose side are YOU on?
Many of you might have caught my tease for “The Wall.” Gail and Beaver have a few details, but didn’t have enough to really put the word out. Well, here they are; this is what “The Wall” is all about.
Imagine yourself in a prison cell. Imagine that you have committed a crime of passion and you have been sentenced to death. Your cell is shared with a madman, who is a ruthless killer and gets crazier as the hours pass. He keeps reminding you that soon you will be killed for your sins. Soon, you will die, and the world will spit on you. Soon, you will succomb to the weight of the world. You will suffer the most agonizing torture that mankind ever devised; at dawn, the both of you will be crucified. You will have nails driven through your palms and you will squirm, writhe, wriggle and die. You will suffer the ultimate pain. The minutes just keep ticking by and there’s no way for you to stop them. Your cell mate cackles and spits and swears and scratches and drives you out of your own thoughts, so you try to take your mind off of him. You come to sit by The Wall, and you take a peak through the hole near the middle at the strange looking fellow that just came in a few hours ago. He’s badly beaten, and he hasn’t been fed. He simply sits on his knees and stares at the sky. He doesn’t make a sound, he doesn’t move a muscle. He simply kneels in the dirt and stares at the stars. You begin to think of everything that the people in the square told you about him. They say he can raise people from the dead. They say he can walk on water. They say he heals people and that the blind see and the deaf hear thanks to him. You wonder if he might do anything for you. You wonder if there’s a chance that he’ll take you away from the pain. If only you could knock that wall down and run to him. If only you could get away from your cell mate, who just gets madder every minute. If only you could get the stranger to stop time and help you escape. If only you could get past The Wall…perhaps your fate will change.
There was once a Wall between us and God. Jesus broke it down. But before He could do it…He had to bleed. The world fights against us and tells us that we’re wrong and that we have no chance for salvation. We can give in to them and their promises or we can run to Christ with open arms. We just have to get past The Wall…
This play was one of the most enriching things i’ve ever been a part of: The people who saw it were driven to tears by its power and talked about it long after it was over and done. The drama team at school has decided to put this play on again for the Sunday before Easter. We will begin selling tickets (for a very small price…We want to pay the royalty attached to this play, but we also want tickets to be affordable so that plenty of people will come and witness it) sometime in mid-March. If you would like tickets when they are available, please private message me (just go to Memberlist and hit PM) and I’ll do everything I can for you. If you’d like to bring some folks, they’re more than welcome to a ticket of their very own. If you’d like anymore information about our play, go ahead and PM me and I’ll answer the best I know how.
Come, witness “The Wall”. Whose side are you on? Let’s find out.
