I got an early start this morning, mowing the front field, doing what I can to keep the weed seeds from taking over the pasture. The purple martins would fly round and round the tractor as the bugs flew up and they would feast. These amazing birds can stop in mid air and change direction, they can come so close to the ground and never touch it. They zip past my head and making such abrupt turns seeming to look at me and give thanks for stirring up the bugs from the grass. I wonder how, but should not. How they can fly with such accuracy? Their formation flawless and yet it is as if they communicate with each other to stay in perfect sequence. All of this not forgetting to mention their paint job, which makes them like no other bird in nature. There beauty and precision, that came with out a professional painter, nor flying degree from the finest university, it is just what they do. Wonder if man could come up with something that would be an improvement for them if they would only listen and take his advice, something more than just beating the bushes to cause the bugs to fly. Those crazy birds may be able to improve upon their navigation with a good GPS on board, but of coarse they would need much bigger heads to put it in, and much larger wings to lift it, but what a help it would be for them if they would only take mans advice? May even install a communication system so they could tell each other what they where about to do, so they could avoid any midair collisions. Those purple martins that accompany me each time I mow the field.
Not to mention the twins, As I cut close to a large patch of milkweed, I notice movement when no wind was blowing. Having changed direction in the field because of how the dust was settling on me making it hard to breath without my shirt pulled up over my nose. I slowed the tractor to a crawl as I ventured into the tall milkweed just to see what was causing the movement. Up jumped a small deer maybe a week old, and darted to open field, I wonder how he knew just when to run, or more, why to stay for as long as he had. Again changing direction as to leave the tall milkweed thinking, for sure he would be back. Not long after, from afar I see him, or her, coming back to the tall patch of milkweed knowing it would be there his, or her, mother would come to look for it later. I had figured was the case. When I noticed that its eyes was not on me. I was to far away to be a threat, but it’s eyes focus on a different direction. Was the mother approaching? I could not see her insight if she was. And then from not to far a distance, one that looks just like it, jumped up, and they together walked over and laid down in the tall milkweed where the one had started, waiting for mom, that I was sure of? I will give the tall milkweed a little longer, until the twins are bigger.
And Most think I just go out to mow?
Thank you God in Jesus name for Phillippians 4:8
and the purple martins and the twins.
