As I have read Beaver’s posts lo these past few weeks regarding Carol, the Boys, and his life in general, I began to evaluate my own family at length. I am truly thankful to God and to Jesus Christ My Savior for the blessings They have given me. I have a father who cares about me and who asks me for the very best I have to offer. If our vision of God comes from our image of our own fathers, I know now why I see God as a caring, loving God who asks me to be all that I can be. He makes my belief easy. I am blessed to have a mother that puts others first. She gives so much of herself and makes me realize that giving and care are virtues that all solid Christians should have. She always makes me feel loved and watches over me as though I were still her little boy, tottering along behind her. My sister is also a blessing; she has her own family now, and being a mother has shown me the limits of her strength. She is one of the most enduring people I have ever known and always speaks the truth whenever it needs to be spoken. Even though she is (and always has been) mature for her age, she still knows how to have fun. Just the other night on a trip to Wal-Mart, she and I had just as much fun as we had growing up and much more. She and her husband have produced a beautiful baby boy, my nephew. When I hold him, I understand what purity and love is. His smile is worth more than any earthly thing I have and his touch boils away all my worldly cares.
My blessings do not end at my immediate family, either. On either side of me stand my cousins, who I came to love like brothers and sisters and who I still love and hold close in my heart. My aunts and uncles are the sources of my joy, their presence a medicine that no man could forge. My Grandfather and Grandmother still make my heart smile and still have the livelyhood of people half their age. They know some deeper secret to living that most people could never dream of having for themselves. I pray for their continued life and love and for their strength to last throughout generations to come.
My family has shown me what love is and what devotion can do in a group of lives. Truly, the people that have come into my life and who share my blood, my happiness, and my heart, are the source of my peace and my strength. Praise Jesus Christ for allowing them to be a part of me and for allowing me to be a part of them. -
