Credit is trust. If you claim to know God and His Son you should be one that can be trusted. Having lived my life up till now doing my very best to show I can be trusted to do what I say. My credit was second to none. I had reached a place in life of financial freedom. I was not rich, but I was free from finance. I could purchase a vehicle and pay with out financing. I had purchased many vehicles and financed them all. When there was a problem with the financed vehicle I was still at the mercy of my creditors because it was their money I needed to purchase these unreliable vehicles. But I had a plan with this vehicle. Even though I could pay for it up front I was going to allow them to finance it, so that if it was a lemon I was going to use the money I owed them to force them to make it right. Guess what? 60,000 mile into this purchase the oil light came on. At first it was ignored. Not believing it was a true alarm, but knowing deep in my heart it was. Was my test about to begin? Before we could get it home the motor seized. Now at first I sat back knowing I had a way to force them to make good on the factory defect. I would just quit paying the loan until they made it right. I no longer needed the creditors to have my way I had financial freedom. I had the power of money on my side. But what about my credit? What about being trusted to do what I said I do. Pay that loan every month on a certain date, for two years.
My first thought was to pray about it. My second thought was you can force their hand you have plenty of money. You no longer need their credit. The Holy Spirit spoke up. “Do you want to give that money power, I never meant for it to have. Would you rather use that money instead of your faith and speak to Me about it. Do you want to force their hand because you owe them? Are you willing to claim you know Me and not be trusted to do what you say?
What an eye opener. I was contemplating giving money power God never meant for it to have. I was going to force someone to do what was right and take their choice of doing wrong away. And I was going to have to compromise my trust record to do it.
Thank God I know His Son and obeyed His voice.
I took what was meant to test me and used that opportunity to teach my son how to remove the motor and repair and replace it. We identified the factory defect and learned more truth that no one can ever take from us.
And kept what God wanted me to have. The ability to be trusted.
Thank you God in your Son’s name.
